The ocean side of Kawasaki Ward in Kawasaki City is home to an industrial area. Among these are the famous artificial islands of Higashi-Ogishima and Ogishima. There are also areas within the ward where many apartment buildings have been constructed, and these areas are heavily populated. The ward also plays an important role in the Keihin Industrial Zone, and there are large industrial areas within the ward. Tourist attractions include the Tama River Cycling Road, Kawasaki Racecourse, and Higashi-Ogishima East Park. The area also hosts many festivals, including the Kawasaki Awa Odori and Daishi Samba Festival, which draw large crowds during festival season.
