About Aikawa Town
Aikawa Town, Aiko District, is located in the northern part of Kanagawa Prefecture. To the southeast, there is a plateau sandwiched between two rivers, giving it a distinctive gourd-like shape. With both mountains and rivers, the town is rich in nature. Located only about 30 kilometers from Yokohama and 50 kilometers from central Tokyo, it's highly recommended for those looking to spend time in a town surrounded by abundant greenery. One of the town's highlights is the old Yamaju House. This ancient building was designated a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property in January 2009. At the local history museum, you can also see a replica of an elephant that is said to have lived in Aikawa Town 3 million years ago.
