Local specialties of the city include Kinpo Koshihikari rice, shochu, and soba noodles. The city is also famous for its Satsuma Kiriko glass crafts. Satsuma Kiriko antiques are highly rare and command high prices in the antiques industry. The city also has many tourist attractions, including Oura Fureai Park, Botsu Hakkei, and the Ganjin Memorial Museum.
