Minami Osumi Town in Kimotsuki District is adjacent to Kimotsuki Town and Kinko Town. This town was formed in 2005 through the merger of Sada Town and Nejime Town. Most of the town's territory is dominated by the Kimotsuki Mountains. Tourist attractions include Cape Sada, the southernmost point of mainland Japan; the Sata Former Botanical Garden, a national historic site; and the Cycad Grove, a national natural monument. A popular leisure spot is Gold Beach Ohama, where beach volleyball tournaments and other events are held. The sand is golden yellow. The Misaki Festival is held in February, and the Dragon Boat Festival is held in October. For public transportation, Kagoshima Kotsu Group buses and the Yamakawa-Nejime Ferry connect Nejime Port with Yamakawa Port in Ibusuki City.
