About Kinko Town
Kinko Town, Kimotsuki District, is located in the western part of the Osumi Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture. It was formed in 2005 by the merger of Daikon Town and Tashiro Town. Its name comes from Kinko Bay, located to the west of the town. Neighboring municipalities include Kanoya City, Minami Osumi Town, and Kimotsuki Town. The town's tourist attractions include the Kamikawa Falls, Evergreen Forest, and Tropical Garden Kamikawa. The scenic Hanase River has a riverbed stretching for approximately 2 km. The water flowing over the flat, smooth stone slabs creates white waves, hence the name Hanase. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty. Cherry blossoms and maples can be enjoyed throughout the seasons. The Hanase Park Festival is held in April, and the Southern Beach Volleyball Festival is held in July.
