About Sanuki City
Sanuki City was established in 2002 through the merger of five towns in Kagawa Prefecture. Facing the Seto Inland Sea and surrounded by the Sanuki Mountains, including Mt. Yahazu and Mt. Nyotai, the city is blessed with abundant nature. The Tsuda River and Kamobe River flow through the city. Strawberries, grapes, and cabbage are cultivated within the city, and agriculture and livestock farming are thriving. Fishing is also carried out, with oysters, seaweed, yellowtail, and sea bream landed. Local specialties include Sanuki wine, chirashi candy, ginger sugar, and jakoten (small sardine tempura). Ogushi Natural Park offers an outdoor music plaza, campgrounds, tennis courts, a winery, and more. Kameda Park within the city boasts a 300-meter-long cherry blossom tunnel. Nagaoji Temple, the 87th temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage, is also a popular attraction.
