Kotohira Town, Nakatado District, is located in the southeastern part of Kagawa Prefecture and borders other cities and towns within the prefecture. The town has long developed as a temple town, and today, with numerous tourist attractions, including Kotohira Shrine, the tourism industry is booming. The observation deck northeast of Kotohira Shrine Main Shrine offers spectacular views of the Seto Bridge and Sanuki Fuji, making it a well-known spot for its stunning views. Japan's oldest theater, Kanamaruza, is designated an Important Cultural Property, and the Shikoku Konpira Kabuki Grand Theater is held there every spring. Garlic cultivation is thriving within the town, and it boasts the second-largest production volume in Japan. Konpira garlic is used in miso, soy sauce, and furikake (seasoning toppings) among other specialty products.
