All of Higashikagawa City's neighboring municipalities, with the exception of Sanuki City in Kagawa Prefecture, are cities and towns in Tokushima Prefecture. Higashikagawa City is known for its warm climate, but at the same time, it is located in an area of Kagawa Prefecture with heavy rainfall, meaning that even droughts rarely result in water outages. The city is known for its glove manufacturing industry. Recently, the city has been actively expanding into the manufacturing of other products. Fishing is also thriving in the city, and yellowtail farming was first practiced in the former town of Hiketa. Famous landmarks in the city include Yoda Temple, Shiratori Shrine, and the Hiketa streetscape. Hiketa's streetscape is home to many precious landmarks, including the Okada and Sano family residences.
