Hiraizumi Town, Nishiiwai District, is known nationwide as a town that flourished during the Heian period. Hiraizumi Town, Nishiiwai District, is a major rice producer, but wild vegetables, apples, and other vegetables are also harvested. One of Hiraizumi's specialty products is its famous mochi dishes. There are a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese mochi dishes, and a sweet called moffle, which combines mochi and waffles, has emerged as a new local specialty.
