Ichinohe Town in Ninohe County is surrounded by the Kitakami Mountains and the Ou Mountains, with forests accounting for 60% of the area. Vast pastures stretch across the Okunakayama Plateau, and the tourist observatory offers stargazing. There are fishing ponds where you can catch rainbow trout and char, a golf course, hot spring facilities, and more, and in winter the town is used as a ski resort. The Takamori Plateau Festival is held in June, and events such as a walking competition through the fresh green beech forest and a local performing arts festival are held. The Oshu Kaido road, which was built during the Edo period, runs through Ichinohe Town. Many tourists visit the town to stroll along the Oshu Kaido road while experiencing the rich nature and history. Dairy farming is thriving, and milk and dairy products are local specialties.
