About Kunohe Village
More than 70% of Kunohe Village, Kunohe District, is covered by forests. The village is home to the towering 852-meter-high Mt. Orizume, a prefectural natural park. Mt. Orizume has well-maintained hiking trails, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing seasons while hiking. A road is also available, allowing visitors to drive to the summit. At night, fireflies glow from the summit, and visitors can see the lights of squid fishing boats. At the base, visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of the Orizume Five Waterfalls. Other tourist attractions include Kunohe Shrine, Skunk Cabbage Park, the Hometown Creation Center, and the Furusato no Yakata Museum. Kunohe Village receives heavy snowfalls, so skiers from all over the country flock to the village-run Kunohe Ski Resort.
