About Hirono Town
Hirono Town in Kunohe District, located in the northernmost part of Iwate Prefecture and bordering Mito District in Aomori Prefecture, is a town rich in nature, surrounded by sea and mountains. Takizawa Shrine, nestled in the mountains, is home to Takizawa Falls, where the sound of the waterfall reverberates through the forest. Nakano Shirataki Waterfall is also located along a promenade from the coast, offering beautiful seasonal scenery. Kujihira-dake, 706 meters above sea level, can be reached in about an hour, making it a popular destination for beginner climbers. From the summit, visitors can enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean and the mountains, and on early summer nights, they can see fishing lights. While fishing is a thriving industry in Hirono Town in Kunohe District, agriculture, including shiitake mushrooms and spinach, is also practiced. Okaya Inari Shrine hosts a festival every May, attracting many participants.
