Shizukuishi Town, Iwate County, located in central Iwate Prefecture, is a town focused on tourism, with hot springs, ski resorts, and Koiwai Farm. The ski resort has even hosted the Alpine Ski World Championships. Mountains surrounding the town include Mt. Takakura, Mt. Okura, and Mt. Iwate, and the Shizukuishi River is a river. Even in midsummer, the summer climate remains cool and comfortable, with temperatures not rising above 30°C. Shizukuishi is often featured in literature, often appearing as a motif in fairy tales or as the setting for stories. Major tourist attractions include Koiwai Farm and Shizukuishi Ski Resort, but the town is also known for its many hot springs.
