The town's specialty products include figs and shiitake mushrooms. The town's most famous festival is the Kawakita Festival. The Hokkoku Fireworks Festival, held at the same time as the Kawakita Festival, is known as the largest fireworks display in the prefecture. This fireworks display also features the launch of two-foot fireworks. The town's neighboring municipalities are Hakusan City and Nomi City. The town's area is 14.76 square kilometers.
