Located in the southwestern tip of Ishikawa Prefecture, Kaga City is a beautiful city rich in nature, surrounded by clear blue seas and vast mountains. Formerly part of Kaga Province, it flourished as a castle town of the Daishoji Domain, with a 100,000 koku (approx. 100,000 koku) fiefdom during the feudal era. The area boasts three hot springs—Yamashiro Onsen, Katayamazu Onsen, and Yamanaka Onsen—and numerous historical sites, such as Daishoji and Hashidate, making it a popular tourist destination. Kaga City's specialties include seafood bowls made with plenty of fresh seafood, as well as agricultural products such as duck rice and Kagari pears. Recently, the Katayamazu burger, a specialty of the city, has become a popular B-grade gourmet dish, featuring a hot spring egg made in Katayamazu's highly concentrated salt springs, and there are many restaurants serving it.
