Sakai Town, Sarushima District, is located 50km from the Tokyo metropolitan area. While it is a little further away at 70km from Mito City, the main city in Ibaraki Prefecture, it is easily accessible via major transportation. The Tone River flows through the southwest of Sakai Town, Sarushima District, and serves as the region's main water source. Beyond the Tone River is Chiba Prefecture. The town is characterized by its long, narrow shape, and its main industry is rice paddies, which utilize the water.
