Located in the southern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, Ryugasaki City is close to central Tokyo and has recently become popular as a commuter town. Recently, the Nosakumura farming village, where people can experience farming, has also become popular, attracting many visitors from all over the country. The city is also famous for its Akomai festival, one of the three most unusual festivals in the Kanto region. It has been designated a prefectural intangible folk cultural property. Kagami Crystal is a traditional craft of the city. Glass tableware, objects, and other crafts are used by Japanese embassies and consulates, and are designated as local crafts of Ibaraki Prefecture.
