Namegata City borders four cities in Ibaraki Prefecture and is a city with a thriving agricultural industry. It cultivates lotus root, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, shiso leaves, and melons. Local specialties include the Namegata Burger, a hamburger made with catfish and carp. The city boasts many tourist attractions rich in nature. Lake Kasumigaura is the second largest lake in Japan after Lake Biwa, and offers views of Mount Tsukuba. The Kitaura Bridge, which connects this area with Kashima City, is lit up at night, offering beautiful views.
