The city boasts Japan's largest granite quarry, known for its use in important Japanese buildings such as Nihonbashi, Tokyo Station, and the Supreme Court. Thirteen Tengu are enshrined on Mount Atago, towering over the city, and the "Tengu Legend" has been passed down since ancient times. The Iwama Tengu Festival features fireworks and numerous events. Local specialties include chestnuts and wild yams, known for their large, sweet fruit, inari sushi with soba and walnuts, and Kasama ware.
