About Hitachiota City
Hitachiota City borders six cities and towns in Ibaraki Prefecture and Yamatsuri Town in Fukushima Prefecture. Following a merger in 2004, it became the largest municipality in Ibaraki Prefecture by area. The city is blessed with abundant water resources, with the Asakawa, Yamada River, Shigemiya River, and Sato River flowing through it. Rice cultivation is thriving, particularly in the southern part. The region is also known for producing high-quality rice, and an annual rice planting festival is held. One of Hitachiota's specialty products is "Hitachi Autumn Soba." There are three soba roads within the city, where rare stone carvings can be seen. The 375-meter-long Ryujin Suspension Bridge, designated one of the 100 most scenic spots in Ibaraki, offers a panoramic view of the Yamizo and Abukuma mountain ranges and the city, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing seasons.
