Sanda City is located in the southeastern part of Hyogo Prefecture, north of the Rokko Mountains. Once a thriving castle town around Sanda Castle, it has now developed as a satellite city for Osaka and Kobe, forming a garden city with both rural and urban aspects. Hokusetsu Sanda New Town, developed as a commuter town between the Hanshin area, was a planned urban development project that addressed the issues of Tama New Town and Senri New Town, and took a long time to complete. This development sparked active development within the city, with numerous subdivisions such as Flower Town, Woody Town, and Culture Town being developed, and the population increasing. Even within this rapidly developing city, there are heritage sites, such as the main hall of Takamefu Shrine, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property.
