Minami Awaji City faces the Pacific Ocean, and is the only municipality in Hyogo Prefecture that does so. Its climate is characterized by the Seto Inland Sea climate and is considered to be warm. The Kinuhikari variety of paddy rice is the main product. In the fisheries industry, dried small sardines and nori seaweed are often harvested.
