Nishi Ward in Kobe City was formed in 1982 by the merger of several towns. Located at the westernmost edge of Kobe, it is a townscape rich in nature. Recently, the construction of new towns has led to the creation of many new homes, and the population has increased, making it the most populous ward in Kobe. Agriculture was once a major industry in the area, but with the creation of industrial parks, precision machinery factories have increased in number, and the area is now dominated by industry. Nishi Ward has a long history, with the Yoshida Ruins and Ozuka Tomb both offering a sense of history, and many traditional performing arts are still being passed down. The area is experiencing urban development while retaining its old-fashioned charm, making it an easy place to live.
