About Nagata Ward, Kobe City
Nagata Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, is located slightly west of Kobe City. Its history is long, and traces of the jori system (traditional Japanese grid system) still remain within the ward. The ward is dotted with numerous streetlights and arcades featuring the design of Tetsujin 28, a character created by the late Kobe-born manga artist, Terumitsu Yokoyama. Wakamatsu Park's Tetsujin Square features a 15.6-meter-tall Tetsujin 28 monument, and various events are held throughout the year. Tourist attractions include Mount Takatori, offering beautiful views of the city and Osaka Bay from its summit, and Nagata Shrine, the ward's beloved symbol. Nagata City's main industries include synthetic leather shoes and chemical shoes, as well as okonomiyaki and nikuten (commonly known as teppan konamon).
