When viewed on a map, Kawanishi City resembles a seahorse. It borders Itami City, Takarazuka City, and other cities and towns in Osaka Prefecture. Its sister cities include Katori City in Chiba Prefecture and Bowling Green in Kentucky, USA. While the Chiba city is now called Katori City, it was originally called Sawara City. Famous attractions in the city include Tada Shrine, Inagawa Valley Prefectural Natural Park, and Hyogo Prefectural Ichikura Park. Hyogo Prefectural Ichikura Park is divided into three zones: a waterside zone, a mountain zone, and a hill zone. Local specialties include figs, peaches, and charcoal.
