Itami City is located in the southeastern part of Hyogo Prefecture, with the Inagawa River to the east and the Mukogawa River to the west, and the Itami Plateau forming the city's land area. It once flourished as a castle town around Itami Castle, and now functions as a satellite city and commuter town for Osaka and Kobe. The city is also known as the birthplace of sake, with sake brewing thriving. Horticulture, industry, and commerce are also thriving. With part of Osaka International Airport located within the city and an extensive rail network, it offers excellent transportation access for both long and short distances. Tourists flock to popular attractions within the city, including Konoike Inari Shrine, the former Okada family residence, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property, and the ruins of Itami Castle.
