About Ono City
Ono City is located in the center of the Higashi-Harima region in south-central Hyogo Prefecture. Located exactly halfway between Kobe and Himeji, it also serves as a commuter town for both cities. The city is also one of Hyogo Prefecture's leading traditional craft cities, and is nationally renowned for its abacus production. Banshu abacus has been designated a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. In addition to abacus, the city is also known for its metalwork, and Banshu sickles have also been designated a traditional craft. The town's main industries are these traditional crafts and other manufacturing, as well as agriculture, primarily focused on Yamada Nishiki rice. The Jodo Hall of Jodo-ji Temple, located within the city, is a designated national treasure, and the Hiroto Ruins of Temple, a nationally designated historic site, is also located within the city.
