Kamigori Town, Ako District, is located in the southwestern part of Hyogo Prefecture and borders many areas, including Okayama Prefecture, Ako City, Aioi City, Tatsuno City, and Sayo Town. The area enjoys a warm Seto Inland Sea climate. It once flourished as a castle town around Shirahata Castle, the base of the Akamatsu clan, the guardian of Harima Province. While agriculture has long been central to the town, today, industries such as concrete, electrical machinery, and chemicals are thriving. The establishment of the Harima Science Garden City in the northeastern part of town is expected to further promote the development of commerce and industry. Many people enjoy ayu fishing in the Chikusa River, which has been selected as one of the prefecture's 100 best waters. The town is also home to historical sites such as the Shirahata Castle ruins, the juniper tree designated as a natural monument, and Takamine Shrine.
