About Yoichi Town
Yoichi Town in Yoichi District was once a major herring fishing area, but now focuses on fruit cultivation. This area is famous for being the first privately-run farm to successfully cultivate apples. To the west of Yoichi Town is the Nuchi River, and by sailing down this river you can see a number of spectacular views created by nature. One tourist spot is the Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery, where you can observe whiskey production. There is also a spot called Candle Rock, and there is a mysterious legend that when large schools of herring come during herring fishing, this rock appears to glow. It is a symbol of the area and an important tourist resource.
