About Imoseiushi Town
Ioseushi Town, Uryu District, is located in the northern part of Hokkaido's Sorachi Comprehensive Development District. The town's name comes from the Ainu word "moseushi," which means "a place where nettles grow abundantly," and is thought to have evolved into the current spelling of "Ioseushi." Ioseushi Town is located at the northern end of the Ishikari Plain, in the center of the Uryu Plain, and the town has a generally flat terrain. The town is located on the right bank of the Ishikari River. Rivers that flow through the town include the Ishikari River and the Uryu River. Agriculture is the main industry in Ioseushi Town, with rice being the main crop. It is also characterized as one of Hokkaido's leading grain-producing areas.
