About Chichibubetsu Town
Chippubetsu Town, Uryu District, is located in the northern part of the Sorachi Regional Subprefectural Bureau of Hokkaido, at the northern end of the Ishikari Plain, in the northern part of the Uryu Plain. Most of the town is flat, with beautiful rice paddy landscapes throughout the city. Rivers that flow through the town include the Ishikari River, the Uryu River, and the Chippubetsu River, with the Uryu River also forming the border with Numata Town. The town's name, Chippubetsu, comes from the Ainu word "Chikushibetsu," which means "river with a passageway." Designated cultural assets of the town include the Tonden no Kane (Bell of the Fields) and the Chikushi Kagura Lion Dance. Major tourist attractions include Chippubetsu Onsen Yu & Yu and Rose Garden Chippubetsu, both of which attract many visitors.
