Shosanbetsu Village, Tomamae District, is located in the northwest of Hokkaido. The village name Shosanbetsu is said to be derived from the Ainu language. The word "Soh-san-petsu" means "river with a waterfall flowing down." The main industry of Shosanbetsu Village, Tomamae District, is fishing, with coastal fishing for tuna, octopus, salmon, and other fish. Shosanbetsu Village is also a producer of wild pufferfish, and Shosanbetsu Wild Pufferfish Teriyaki Bowl is a popular local delicacy.
