About Teshio Town
Teshio Town in Teshio District is located at the mouth of the Teshio River, from which the town takes its name. At 256 kilometers long, the Teshio River is the second longest river in Hokkaido and has been designated a Hokkaido Heritage Site. Large-scale dairy farming is also carried out here, with over 10,000 dairy cows raised in Teshio Town alone. Fishing is also thriving, and Teshio's clams are famous nationwide. Clams account for roughly half of the total catch. A Clam Festival is held every July, featuring numerous exciting events, including clam catching, clam soup tastings, specialty product sales, canoe rides, and singing shows. There are also many spots where you can enjoy Hokkaido's abundant nature, such as Kagaminuma Seaside Park and Itsukushima Park.
