Kamifurano Town, Sorachi District, is located in the southern part of Hokkaido's Kamikawa region. The town is a plain to the west, but the population is concentrated due to the national highway and Furano Line running through it. The eastern side is dominated by mountainous areas, including Mount Tokachi. Mountains surrounding the town include Mount Tokachi, Mount Sandan, and Mount Furano. The Furano River is a major river. Mount Tokachi Onsen is also famous for its beautiful views. Fukiage Onsen is also nationally famous, having been used as a filming location for TV dramas. Agriculture is the town's main industry, but tourism is also thriving thanks to the hot springs, including Mount Tokachi and Fukiage Onsen. Other tourist attractions include Flowerland Kamifurano and Miyama Pass. The town's designated cultural property is the sacred image shrine of Higashi Junior and Senior High School.
