About Nakashibetsu Town
Nakashibetsu Town, Shibetsu District, located in eastern Hokkaido, is surrounded by hills to the north that connect to the Kuril volcanic belt, and the flat Nemuro Plain to the south. It is the second most populous town in the Nemuro region after Nemuro City. Its main industries are dairy farming and agriculture, with many dairy cows raised, and only a few people raising beef cattle or sheep. The main agricultural crops are potatoes, dent corn, and radishes. Since 2005, a migration promotion program has been implemented, encouraging people to move to Nakashibetsu Town. Local specialties include barley shochu made with raw milk, various cheeses, and yogurt. Tourist attractions include Kaiyodai, an observation deck offering 360-degree views.
