Shari Town, Shari District, located on the Shiretoko Peninsula, a World Heritage Site, has a thriving tourism industry. The Eight Views of Shiretoko, including Oshinkoshin Falls, Oronko Rock, Yuhidai, Cape Buyuni, Furebe Falls, Shiretoko Pass, the Shiretoko Five Lakes, and Kamuiwakka Hot Spring Falls, each offer their own unique and captivating scenery. There are also many other tourist attractions, including the Northern Alps Museum, Utoro Hot Springs, and Shiretoko Museum. The Aurora Fantasy is held at Drift Ice Nature Park from February to March. In July, the Shiretoko Shari Neputa Festival is held, with giant neputa floats eight meters above ground lining the main street. Shari Town, Shari District, is also a thriving agricultural region, producing wheat, carrots, onions, asparagus, and other crops, as well as fishing for salmon and trout.
