Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo, is one of the administrative wards that make up the city and is located in the eastern part of the city. It borders Ebetsu City to the north, Higashi Ward and Chuo Ward to the northwest, Toyohira Ward and Kiyota Ward to the southwest, and Atsubetsu Ward to the east. The entire area is located within the Ishikari Plain, but the northern part is dominated by peat bogs, so the city center is located in the southern part. The Shiroishi district is home to the Sapporo Citizens' Disaster Prevention Center. This facility was built after the major earthquake and offers a variety of experiences tailored to each disaster. It is also used by locals as a corporate training site, as it offers overnight training sessions on fire prevention and disaster prevention. There is also good public transportation, and a large shopping mall in the city center.
