Honbetsu Town, Nakagawa District, is adjacent to Obihiro City and Kitami City, and has roads that allow travel between the east and west of the city, making it an essential transportation network for people in Hokkaido. Travel to Kushiro is possible via the Doto Expressway. Located inland, the town experiences the typical Hokkaido cold in winter. However, snowfall is less than in other areas of Hokkaido. With many sunny days, agriculture is the main industry. Wheat is the main crop, but rice is also cultivated. Various events are held throughout the year in Honbetsu Town, Nakagawa District. The Honbetsu Kirameki Town Festival is held at the end of summer on August 31st.
