Takinoue Town in Monbetsu County was once famous as a mint-producing area. Currently, the mint fields have shrunk to about 10 hectares, but as mint cultivation itself is extremely rare, the town still boasts an overwhelming share of the market, at about 95%. As part of the town's revitalization efforts, events related to Fairy Tale Village are also held, attracting many visitors. Tourist attractions within the town include Ukishima Marsh, Fragrance Village, and the Herb Garden. The town is also home to a famous cherry blossom spot. The Shibazakura in Takinoue Park is known for its impressive size, making it a tourist attraction in the town. A cherry blossom festival is also held.
