About Omu Town
Omu Town in Monbetsu District is a thriving fishing, dairy farming, and livestock industry. The town is home to Mt. Piyashiri, a mountain nearly 1,000 meters high, and two rivers, the Omu River and the Horonai River. Several housing complexes, such as Sawaki Danchi and Miyashita Danchi, have been built within the town. Famous tourist spots in the town include Kaze no Oka and Hinode Cape. Many visitors from both inside and outside the town come to witness the beautiful orange sunrise. Festivals include the Omu Town Industry Tourism Festival and the Omu Shrine Festival. The Omu Town Tourism Association of Monbetsu District also hosts a photo contest, which has always won prizes. The town's tourism association is also actively involved in many other areas.
