Fukushima Town in Matsumae County is a mountainous region facing the sea, making it a thriving fishing industry. Dried squid production is particularly high in the country. A major tourist attraction is the Yokozuna Chiyonoyama and Chiyonofuji Memorial Hall, a facility located at a roadside station. It was built in honor of the famous Yokozuna Chiyonoyama and Chiyonofuji, two of Japan's national sport sumo wrestlers, who hail from Fukushima Town in Matsumae County. The facility even has a sumo ring, allowing visitors to practice sumo. Every summer, the area is used as a training camp for sumo stables, where many promising young wrestlers train hard. The Seikan Tunnel is located near the memorial hall.
