Teshikaga Town, Kawakami District, is located in the center of Hokkaido, bordering the mountain ranges to the northwest, the Nemuro Plateau to the east, and the Kushiro Wetlands to the south. Due to the bitterly cold winters, the diamond dust phenomenon can be seen in Kawayu, creating a mystical sight. The town is home to several lakes, including Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo, and nearby tourist destinations include Kawayu Onsen. Another event, Diamond Dust in Kawayu, held from December to March, features illuminations using 30,000 light bulbs. The town's traditional Ainu dance has also been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. In addition to tourism, dairy farming is also a major industry.
