Toma Town, Kamikawa District, is located on the eastern edge of the Kamikawa Basin, and the mountains to the east of the town extend into Mount Daisetsu. Rice farming is the town's main industry, and Toma Town is known as a producer of Hokkaido's finest rice. Other chrysanthemum and watermelon cultivation is also thriving. Toma Town's famous brand of watermelon is the jet-black "Densuke Watermelon," a luxury watermelon that can fetch up to 530,000 yen per watermelon. Cultural assets include the Toma Limestone Cave, a prefectural natural monument, and town-designated cultural properties such as Chukondo Hall, Seioji Temple, and the hills surrounding the former Toma Shrine. Soft tennis is also popular, and the town has produced many national-level players.
