About Higashikawa Town
Higashikawa Town, Kamikawa District, is located in central Hokkaido, between the agricultural areas of the Kamikawa Basin to the west and the mountainous region of Mount Daisetsu to the east. It is part of Daisetsuzan National Park, Japan's largest natural park. The rural landscape of the agricultural area is so beautiful that it was the first in Hokkaido to be designated a landscape administrative body. Due to its beautiful scenery, the town has attracted many immigrants from outside Hokkaido. It is also developing as a commuter town for Asahikawa City. Higashikawa Town is also known as a craft town, with many woodworking workshops and stylish coffee shops that utilize woodworking products. Furthermore, due to the abundance of underground water springing out, the town is famous for not having a running water system. The town is also home to a popular event called "Photography Koshien."
