About Higashikagura Town
Higashikagura Town, Kamikawa District, is located in the central Kamikawa region of Hokkaido and is home to Asahikawa Airport. The town is formed from the plains and hills of the Kamikawa Basin, and the Chube River, a tributary of the Ishikari River, forms the border with Higashikawa Town. In recent years, it has developed as a commuter town for Asahikawa City, and its population has been increasing. The name comes from the Ainu phrase "place where the gods play," which translates to "place where the gods play," and comes from its location east of Kagura Village, which is now Asahikawa City. The town has an inland climate. Rice cultivation has long been the main industry. In recent years, industrialization has progressed with the formation of an industrial complex. One of the town's famous landmarks is Kagurayama Shungu-ji Temple.
