Biei Town, Kamikawa District, is located in the center of Hokkaido's Kamikawa region and, along with Furano City, is a famous tourist destination in Hokkaido. Its magnificent hilly landscapes and floral scenery are extremely attractive, attracting many immigrants from outside Hokkaido. The region's dry summer climate makes it a pleasant place to live. Agriculture is the main industry, with potatoes, wheat, sugar beets, corn, and rice being the main crops. Food processing and wood processing are also thriving. Tourism includes Shirogane Onsen and pensions. The town's specialty dish, Biei curry udon, is extremely popular. Milk made from 100% locally-sourced raw milk is also popular. As for cultural assets, Mount Daisetsu has been designated a Special Natural Monument.
