About Urausu Town
Urausu Town in Kabato County has developed around rice farming. Even today, rice is produced in abundance. Other produce includes melons, asparagus, and buckwheat noodles. Grape cultivation for wine processing is also thriving, with the town boasting the largest cultivated area and harvest in Japan. As a result, not only wine but also jam and tebebudo (sweetened grapes) are produced. Famous tourist spots include Tsurunuma Park, which is packed with nature; Ikoi no Mori Park, where you can admire wildlife; and the Sakamoto Family Grave, where Sakamoto Ryoma is buried. Recently, Tsurunuma Roadside Station has also become increasingly popular as a rest stop for drivers and long-distance truck drivers.
