Hidaka Town in Saru District is located at the foot of the Hidaka Mountains, hence the name Hidaka Town. Neighboring municipalities include Biratori Town and Niikappu Town. The southern part of the town faces the Pacific Ocean, while the eastern part is mostly covered in forest. The town's Hidaka district is served by the main road, National Route 274, and there are areas with heavy traffic within the town. The town also has several tourist attractions, including Sarugawa Onsen, Monbetsu Onsen, and Sarugawa Auto Campground. The town is also known for hosting many events, such as the Tonekko Carnival in the fall and the Hidaka International Ski Resort Festival in the winter.
