Yakumo Town in Futami District is centered around dairy farming and fishing. Its specialty products are wooden carved bears and butter candy. An airfield for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force is also under construction. Tourist attractions include Funka Bay Panorama Park and Yakumo Shrine, where a grand festival is held every June. The shrine has a very long history and is protected by Yakumo Town in Futami District. The area also boasts many cultural assets. Important cultural properties include artifacts excavated from the Kaido Kotan Onsen ruins, and Yakumo Town's designated cultural property is the Strange Rock Unseki. The Strange Rock Unseki has become a popular tourist spot, attracting people from all over the country and not just locals.
