Asakita Ward in Hiroshima City is the largest ward in terms of area, accounting for approximately 40% of the city's land area. Due to its mountainous terrain, the ward is home to four mountains, with Mt. Shiraki being the highest at approximately 889m above sea level. The ward is divided into the Asa, Kabe, Takayo, and Shiraki districts, formerly known as the former Asa Town, Kabe Town, Takayo Town, and Shiraki Town, respectively. A distinctive industry in the ward is the production of Goemon baths. There are also companies that manufacture beads, making the ward a thriving manufacturing industry. The ward is home to many city-designated natural monuments, including the Toumyo Cedar and the Kaya.
